Message from Commissioner’s Desk

The beginning of the new academic session is a time for reviewing our achievements and setting goals for the future. The students and teachers of the KendriyaVidyalayas have achieved excellence in all fields and I have no doubt that they are ready and well equipped to accept new challenges and bring glory to their institution. To strive for perfection through hard work and sincere efforts should be our constant endeavour. It gives me immense pleasure to share with you the tremendous success of our children at the class X and XII examinations. There has been a significant improvement in the result of class XII-2012 examinations. The overall increase in the number of students who have successfully cleared the examinations is 0.73% more as compared to last year. Moreover, the number of students securing above 90%, 75% and 60% marks is at an all time high. For this I would especially like to congratulate the teachers of the KendriyaVidyalayas who have given unstinted support to the children of their schools by mentoring them and grooming them to take their place in the world. KVS is striving to ensure that our children become truly world class by providing libraries, computing and other educational and recreational facilities thereby enriching the learning experience of our vidyalayas. We cannot, however, become complacent. There is always scope for improvement and the demands of a knowledge society challenge us to reinvent ourselves should the need arise.

When our students leave school, they should be confident, empowered, independent and thinking individual who are able to carve out a bright niche for themselves in the society. The education which they receive should be meaningful and purposeful. To do this we must leverage technology to our advantage. Learning has to be made stress-free and a joyful experience. We should not only encourage children to improve communication skills, but as citizens of the global community sensitize them to challenges of environment and nature. It should be our constant effort to encourage our children to excel not only in the academic field but also in extra-curricular activities. I truly believe that every person has the potential to change the world and it is the individual who can make that decision. Even problems can be exciting because they give us opportunity to think creatively and to learn something new about our abilities to make it successfully. The Sangathan is expanding and progressing by leaps and bounds. I am proud to say that seven new Regional Offices of the KVS have been established in the current academic session and have started functioning with immediate effect. Their locations are Agra, Ernakulam, Ranchi, Raipur, Varanasi, Tinsukia and Sirsa. In 2013, KVS is going to complete its 50 years. The contribution of KVS in imparting quality education has been remarkable. Sangathan is going to celebrate the Golden Jubilee Year in a befitting manner during the year 2013 starting from January to December, 2013 with so many exciting activities. I have observed that there is no dearth of talent in KVS. The challenge is of getting talent that meets the need of the new era. We need to consider the proposals to overhaul our education system, enhance its performance and thereby achieve better results. Let us dedicate ourselves once again in this new academic session by working together, thinking differently and creatively so that the KendriyaVidyalayas truly become schools of excellence.

Thank You,
AvinashDikshit ,Commissioner
